things we get asked

Q: can i bring my doggo with me ?
a: absolutely, we adore our (and anyone elseโ€™s) dogs and the restaurant sponsors a kennel at the wonderful shenton park dogโ€™s refuge. the deck is open air, but if the weather is good, the more mutts the merrier

q: whatโ€™s with the name ?
a: as anyone who knows us from the bruce will attest, weโ€™re simple souls who like animals and movies. throw in a penchant for slightly surreal decor and a wizard Of Oz quote seemed like a no brainer

q: whatโ€™s happening to duck duck bruce ?
a: after seven glorious years, our lease is up and we have closed the doors at the bruce. it was our first adventure, a runaway success and we loved every single minute. it may pop up again somewhere else in the future, but for now we are going to enjoy a sunday lie in and take our time with any big decisions

q: how do i book a table?
a: head to the โ€˜visitโ€™ page of the website, make an instant booking and check for your confirmation email link.  please remember peak times will book out well in advance and early evening bookings have a time restriction to allow for two sittings. for same day bookings, just give us a call or head in to the deck / bar area. itโ€™s cosy and friendly and ready to welcome walk ins

q: do you take bookings for larger groups ?
a: we cap bookings at 12 - 14 for dinner tables. we can happily take larger groups for saturday lunch - just get in touch for details

q: can i come in just for drinks ?
a: you sure can, pull up a stool at the bar or snag a table or booth in the bar area or on the deck

q: do you offer split billing ?
a: absolutely.  it just makes life easier for everyone

q: can you host my wedding / graduation / dog's bar mitzvah ?
a: mazel tov! feel free to drop us a line and tell us what youโ€™re after. events arenโ€™t our focus but weโ€™re always happy to chat about available options and will gladly open for weekday lunch for groups of 30 - 40

Q: whatโ€™s with the sub continental leaning ?
a: as a gang, we are devotees of flavour above all else, so the incredible regional diversity and adaptability of southern asian cuisine has always been our biggest inspiration. our entire friendship is grounded in evenings cooking curry, chatting about travels, laughing and knocking back the riesling - weโ€™re pretty sure itโ€™s why weโ€™re still a gang

Q: do you do gift vouchers ?
a: we Sure do. head to the gift voucher page of this very website to purchase a digital voucher and have it emailed out instantly. if you were after a good looking, physical voucher to give someone - just pop in and pick one up at the restaurant

oNce Upon a Time...

sean and charlie met, played cards and drank tequila, this inevitably lead to marriage. best mate woody worked with charlie and drank too much with sean, and thus a little gang with big ideas was formed.

with nothing but two dogs, a love of curry and margaritas to occupy their spare time, the three cooked and drank and laughed their way towards potential gout and a restaurant to call their own. from this, our cafe duck duck bruce was born. coffee was made, christmas in julys were celebrated and our breakfasts became the stuff of legend.

but the people wanted more

duck duck bruce after dark was a one off evening to celebrate the spices which underpin our entire approach to food. the response was overwhelming and the message was clear:

our customers are vibrant and adventurous and ready for a fun night out with big flavours.

lions and tigers is for these glorious souls

we are so, so passionate about the power of a good meal spent with good people, and are giddy at the privilege of sharing that passion with others.

who knows where the adventure goes from here but as long as there are three goofballs at the helm with a drink in hand and a hundred ideas a day, it'll be anything but dull ...
